Nanny Angel Network

What is the Nanny Angel Network

The Nanny Angel Network is a group of women comprised of professional care providers and board members who generously volunteer their time to provide quality, compassionate relief childcare, at no cost, to mothers diagnosed with breast cancer, in treatment or in the early stages of recovery. The Nanny Angel Network has spread its wings and offers relief childcare for mothers with any form of cancer who live in central Toronto.

Nanny Angel Volunteers

All Angels are pre-screened, professional, experienced child care providers who volunteer their time providing mothers with the security that their children are being well looked after while they get some much needed rest, go to appointments or simply have time for themselves.

Angels are currently available in Metro Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver.

Nanny Training Program

All Angels, regardless of experience, are required to attend a one day intensive training course designed to prepare them for their assignments. The training program will compliment their existing nanny skills and will allow mothers to feel confident that the Angels have the background information needed to care for their children.
Some areas covered in the program include:
  •  breast cancer, its treatment and the recovery process
  •  examining the psychological and emotional effects the disease may have on the family
  •  developing the language needed to work sensitively and compassionately with families in treatment for breast cancer

be breast aware

Be Breast Aware

Together with Rethink Breast Cancer we are working to increase breast health awareness. Many of our Angels fall within a group of women who, because of their age (many of you are under 40) and cultural background, have little information about breast health. Our goal is to change that fact!

Every woman and man should know the risk factors, signs and symptoms and established detection guidelines for breast cancer. For more information about becoming Breast Aware go to http://rethinkbreastcancer.com/breast_cancer_prevention.html
