Board of Directors
Nanny Angel Network is governed by a Board of Directors with the following members.
Audrey Guth, Board Chair
Audrey is the Founder and Director of Diamond Personnel Inc., Diamond Global Recruitment Group and the Nanny Angel Network. In 2008, during her own treatment for breast cancer, she recognized a need for childcare for moms diagnosed with this disease. With a generous grant from Rethink Breast Cancer, she founded the Nanny Angel Network. Audrey is the volunteer Executive Director of the Nanny Angel Network.
HELENA AXLER, VICE CHAIR
Helena is the managing principal of Axler and Associates, a health care consulting practice focused on strategy development and facilitating innovation and change. She works extensively with teaching hospitals, universities and research organizations. Prior to starting her consulting practice she was Chief, Strategy and Network Development for Sick Kids Hospital. Helena is an adjunct professor in the U of T Department of Health Management, Policy and Evaluation. Currently, Helena is a member of the Friends of Simon Wiesthenthal Centre Doctors 4 Wiesenthal Executive Committee and the Freedom Day Committee.
BRIGITTE LEE, SECRETARY
Brigitte is a 37 year old, mother of two children. She is a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and IT professional who was on maternity leave when diagnosed with a rare pregnancy-related cancer called choriocarcinoma (cancer of the placenta) during that time she turned to the Nanny Angel Network to provide childcare relief to her family. Brigitte brings her background as a strategic planning consultant to the Nanny Angel Network and provides invaluable feedback about the experience of moms in the program.
Gila Ossip, Treasurer
Gila owns and operates a company called Tax4Nanny, which she started in 2008. Tax4Nanny is a payroll service provider for employers of caregivers. She helped found Nanny Angel Network and is very deeply connected to the organization as she knows how difficult it can be balancing the needs of children while being a mom.
Barb is a Social Worker with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Toronto who has been in private practice for 26 years. Her specialties are private adoption, infertility counselling, family, marital and teen counselling. She has volunteered with several non-profit charities. She helped develop the Nanny Angel Networks' educational component of child behavioural issues and how to respond to children when they are faced with a parent who is ill.
Shauna is currently the Director of Placements and Operations for Diamond Personnel. After completing an honours B.A. in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Criminology at the University of Toronto, Shauna joined the Diamond group of companies. She is one of the key people the Nanny Angel Network works with when recruiting new volunteers of childcare professionals.
Daphne is vice President of Goldrich Printpak Inc, a manufacturer of quality packaging for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Daphne is one of the founding members of the Nanny Angel Network and uses her organizational strengths to help NAN deliver support to mothers in need.
Sabina Spatarro is a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) with a major in Child, Youth and Family. As a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) she completed an 880 clinical hour internship at Rush University Children's Hospital in Chicago IL. Previous work experience includes four summers as a camp counsellor at overnight camp, Early Childhood Educator working with toddlers and pre-school children and soccer coach. She works at the Hospital for Sick Kids in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit as a Child Life Specialist and is an active Nanny Angel volunteer.
Lisa is the author of Market Smart: How to Gain Customers and Increase Profits with B2B Marketing and president of The Mezzanine Group, a strategic marketing firm based in Toronto that specializes in business to business (B2B). Mezzanine has been named twice each to the Profit Hot 50 and the Profit 100; Lisa was twice the youngest female CEO on the Profit 100. In the past ten years Lisa has consulted to over 200 B2B companies, including marketing executives in Fortune 500 firms and leading mid-market.
Rhonda's expertise has attracted numerous corporate clients. During the holiday season of 2006 Rhonda completed a media tour for Environics's Communication and their client eBay Canada speaking on the conclusions of the "eBay Merry Meltdown Report." Earlier that year she was the media spokesperson across Canada for MacKenzie Financial "Burn Rate Campaign" speaking on how Canadians spend their money. She has a Masters of Applied Psychology and Counselling from the University of Toronto, an Honours B.A. Psychology and Theatre Arts & Speech from McMaster University magna cum laude, and a Certificate in Radio & Television Broadcast from Ryerson Polytechnic University.
Amy studied child and family development at University of Guelph and has a Masters of crisis and trauma from Tel Aviv University- focusing on children and families coping with illness. She is passionate about helping families who are going through this type of life crisis and want to help families as a unit cope with such a difficult time in their lives.
Glen Mortimer recently retired from a 35-year career in the foodservice and hospitality industry, and currently operates G. Mortimer & Associates Consulting Ltd based in Calgary, Alberta. He has held multiple positions in Operations, R&D, Marketing, Retail Grocery, Labour, Training and Non Traditional Business Strategies. After 18 years with A&W Foodservices of Canada, Glen joined Tim Hortons and led the development of the company in Western Canada as Vice President, tripling the number of restaurants and growing sales by more than 400% between 2000 and 2008. Since 2006, Glen has developed expertise in the area of International Recruitment and Labour Mobility.
Sara has extensive experience in talent recruitment, talent management and building successful teams, as well as experience as a corporate lawyer at a leading Canadian business law firm. Prior to commencing her legal studies with the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University, Sara earned her M.Sc. in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics, focusing on Conflict Resolution. She is now responsible for all aspects of the student programs at the Toronto office of Dentons Canada LLP.
